Hello Void

Elena Rodríguez, Imogen Clarke, Cosima Weber

When I started designing these pieces, which I’ve titled “Hello Void,” I was drawn to the idea of taking a commonly perceived negative word and flipping it into something positive and inviting. The design itself is intentionally simple: a stack of round cards, each featuring a vibrant yellow edge and that single, lowercase word, “void,” at its heart.

For me, this “void” isn’t about a lack or an emptiness to be feared. Instead, I see it as a space brimming with potential – like a clean slate ready for a new idea to spark, a meaningful conversation to begin, or a fresh connection to form. I chose the circular shape because it feels endless and welcoming, and the cheerful, bright yellow is there to ignite curiosity and a sense of optimism.

I envision these cards almost as little prompts or conversation starters. Perhaps you’d jot down a thought on one, or maybe its simplicity just encourages a moment of quiet reflection. They’re my invitation to embrace the open, undefined spaces we encounter and to actively consider how we might fill them, or even just appreciate them as they are. It’s about discovering opportunity in simplicity and finding a little bit of unexpected joy in the concept of a “void.”
