Jaeyoung Lee is a graphic designer and the founder of 6699press, a Seoul-based design studio and independent publisher established in 2012. He views graphic design as a vital intermediary, striving to bridge the gap between message and recipient with sincerity and social responsibility.
Through 6699press, Lee has actively utilized design as a tool to promote social communication. His notable projects include We Live in Seoul, which tells the stories of North Korean defectors; Korea, Woman, Graphic Designer 11, which explores the professional lives of female graphic designers in Korea; and Bathhouses in Seoul, a photo book documenting the city’s disappearing public bathhouses. His work continues to foster empathy and dialogue regarding marginalized voices and overlooked narratives in Korean society.
Lee’s contributions have been recognized with the Most Beautiful Books in Korea award in both 2021 and 2023. He has participated in the International Typography Biennale Typojanchi as both an artist (2019) and curator (2021). Having previously served as the publishing director for the Korean Typography Association’s journal LetterSeed, he currently teaches graphic design and editorial design at Ewha Womans University.
